JN+ embarks on back-to-school health and wellness fair in Grants Pen

The Jamaican Network of Seropositives (JN+) will be embarking on a Back-to-School Health & Wellness Fair and Vaccination Blitz at the Grants Pen Peace Park, 32-35 Grants Pens Road on August 27, starting at 10:00 am.

The Back-to-School Health and Wellness Fair will represent JN+’s second in as many months and will be geared towards students and teachers as they prepare for face-to-face classes in the upcoming academic year.

The Health & Wellness Fair will be complemented by the services of the following agencies:

  • The Kingston & St. Andrew Health Department will be on-site to administer the Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer (12-17 & 18+) and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine brands, Free Medical Check-up for students going back to school, as well as to conduct free blood sugar and blood pressure tests;
  • Jamaica AIDS Support for Life (JASL) will be offering free HIV and Syphilis testing;
  • The Ministry of Health & Wellness (MOHW) & Health Promotion Education Branch will be conducting a sensitisation session on general health and the Covid-19 vaccine and Monkeypox;
  • The Registrar General Department (RGD) will facilitate applications for its various services.

The Health & Wellness Fair activity is open to all members of the public. Persons who get vaccinated at the Fair will be offered free KFC and Burger King food vouchers. There will also be prizes for the winning teams competing in the football and domino competitions.

The Jamaican Network of Seropositives (JN+) is a national non-profit advocacy organisation established in 1997 to advocate for the rights and concerns of Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV) and their families.

As the recognised voice of PLHIV in Jamaica, JN+ continues to collaborate locally, regionally and globally with other networks, stakeholders and partners in the HIV response.
