Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, announced on Instagram today (January 27) the completion of his new album which has been set for release next month.

The first ever sequel from West, Donda 2 will be released on 2 / 22 / 22 (February 2, 2022). West also shared that hip hop artiste Future has executive produced the project.

West’s announcement was made with an image of his Chicago childhood home on fire. In the caption, he says: “DONDA 2 COMING 2 22 22 EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY FUTURE.”

Fans have been very receptive to the news, with some excited about Future being a part of the project and others saying they can’t wait for its release.

@hiphop.talk, for example, posted on social media: “This about to be one of the greatest albums ever [omg]!!”

Others have been quite skeptical, saying that, despite the date announcement, they expect the album to be dropped months later as West has become notorious for postponing releases.

Named after his mother, Ye revealed earlier this month that he had already begun working on the sequel. Speculation has been that A$AP Rocky, The Game and controversial NFL football player Antonio Brown are featured on the upcoming studio project, his 11th.

His previous album, Donda, was released on August 29 last year and features artistes including Jamaica’s Shenseea, Jay Z, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, The Weeknd, Lil Baby and Travis Scott. The album is also up for several Grammy awards, including Album of the Year and Rap Album of the Year.
