Kingston College romped to their 17th hold on the ISSA Digicel Manning Cup, dispatching St Catherine High 3-1 at the National Stadium tonight.

The tall fifteen year old (15) defender Jaeshawn Edwards gave KC a 36th-minute goal, nodding home from a corner kick at the far post.

Then on the stroke of halftime, Demario Dailey rammed home from just inside the box, giving KC a 2-0 lead in the 45+1 minute.

Chronic Law’s halftime performance kept the crowd rocking and KC came out firing in the second half.

KC’s top scorer Deshawn Byfield put the game beyond St Catherine, slotting home a Dailey cross in the 54th minute. But unfortunately, Byfield would be credited with an own goal nodding in to his own net in the 63rd minute that gave St Catherine a glimmer of hope.

In fact, this might be a piece of history for the Manning Cup final where one player scored in both ends.

This was KC’s third win in the last six years, having won in 2018, ending a 32-year drought and again in 2021. It was also a unique piece of history for head coach Vassell Reynolds as he became the fourth coach in Jamaica’s schoolboy football to win both the urban area Manning Cup and the rural area daCosta Cup.

He led Rusea’s High to the daCosta Cup title in 2017 and now leading the Famed Purples to their 17th Manning Cup triumph.

KC formed in 1925 will be celebrating their 100th year in April and the party started early.
