Kingston Creative wins best Attraction Award at Best of Jamaica Awards in Florida

Kingston Creative, a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to fostering creativity and economic growth in Kingston, Jamaica, has been honoured with the Best Attraction Award at the prestigious 2024 Best of Jamaica Awards hosted by Jamaicans.com, a leading Diaspora media company, at the Miramar Cultural Centre, Florida.

The award recognizes Kingston Creative’s outstanding contributions to the arts and its significant impact on the local community of downtown Kingston and beyond. The organisation said the accolade is a testament to it’s vision of transforming Kingston into a vibrant creative city and its mission to enable Caribbean creatives to succeed and create positive social and economic value.

“We are just thrilled to receive this award,” said Allan Daisley, board chair of Kingston Creative. “It’s a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of our team and the incredible support from our partners and the community, both in Jamaica and here in the Diaspora.

“We have created over 100 murals, conducted festivals and meetups, developed Urban Art Parks, and launched a crowdfunding campaign called Adopt A Block to upgrade the Art District. This award motivates us to continue our efforts in making Kingston a global hub for creativity and innovation.”

The Best of Jamaica Awards was attended by Honorary Consul to the USA, Oliver Mair and Kingston Creative First 50 Donor, David Mullings of Blue Mahoe Capital. The Award ceremony, now in its 25th year, celebrates the best in Jamaican talent, creativity, and cultural excellence. Kingston Creative’s achievement in copping the Best Attraction award highlights its role in developing a cultural tourism hub in Downtown Kingston.

Co-founder and Managing Director of Kingston Creative Andrea Dempster-Chung, an engineer has done a fantastic job in fostering vitality and creativity in Jamaica’s capital city.  She has led the charge in bringing colour and art to downtown Kingston, making it an attraction and encouraging people to check out its charms.
