Kintyre Holdings (JA) has acquired additional shares in Kulcha Rum, bringing ownership to 100% in the company, which currently produces its product under contract at a facility on Pechon Street in downtown Kingston.

This acquisition of additional equity comes two months after Kintyre Holdings bought majority control from Richard Lee, owner of Miracle Corporation and Peter Bovell, Jamaican entrepreneur, who held the controlling interest in the spirits manufacturer. Since then, Kulcha Rum has been operating under Kintyre Holdings’ newly established Spirits Division, supporting the company’s broader expansion into the Jamaican rum and spirits industry.

This latest equity acquisition, Kintyre Holdings reports, is the key milestone that enables unified leadership, faster execution, and accelerated scaling across local and international markets. Following the acquisition of the additional shares, work is underway to drive local and international expansion. The spirits manufacturer has commenced a focused programme of work aimed at scaling the brand, including:

  • Distributor engagement: The company is in active discussions with a distributor to strengthen Kulcha Rum’s presence across retail and on-premise channels, locally and through export pathways.
  • Selective rebranding: Updates are being implemented in specific areas to sharpen market positioning, strengthen visual consistency, and support wider distribution readiness.
  • Market sensitisation: Targeted efforts are ongoing to reintroduce and sensitise the market, building stronger consumer awareness and trade confidence ahead of broader rollout.

It expects to significantly increase production as soon as the distributor partnership is finalised, supported by the clarity and speed that comes with Kintyre Holdings being the wholly owned owner of Kulcha Rum. Kintyre Holdings is confirming that it is now in discussions with local and international strategic investors, who are expected to bring not only capital, but also solid market opportunities and access that can materially support marketing execution and production scale-up—further accelerating the benefits of Kintyre Holdings’ 100% ownership of Kulcha Rum.

Strengthened execution and governance

In a news release announcing the acquisition of the remaining shares, Kintyre Holdings, Chairman, President & CEO, Tyrone Wilson, disclosed that the parent entity has strengthened its execution capacity across the relevant operating teams supporting Kulcha Rum with experienced leadership focused on both B2B and B2C sales execution. In addition, the company has hired a President & CEO, who will officially join on March 1, 2026, further strengthening leadership as Kintyre Holdings, as 100% owner, advances its plans for Kulcha Rum.

He advises that a solid Board of Directors with relevant industry knowledge and experience is currently in the process of being implemented to support governance, strategic oversight, and disciplined growth, as Kintyre Holdings executes its 100% ownership of Kulcha Rum.

Kulcha set to appoint Chief Vibes Officer

Kulcha Rum has secured, in principle, a commitment from one of Jamaica’s top dancehall artistes to serve as Brand Ambassador and Kulcha Chief Vibes Officer (CVO), subject to final documentation. This role is intended to support brand storytelling, creative direction, and culturally-relevant campaigns designed to deepen consumer connection while driving growth locally and internationally. “Rum is more than a product in Jamaica—it’s culture, history, celebration, and identity,” declared Wilson, who added, “I’m proud to have this opportunity to introduce Kulcha Rum in a bigger way. With Kintyre Holdings now the 100% owner of Kulcha Rum, we have full alignment to advance distribution, market sensitisation, rebranding, and production scale-up to meet the demand we believe is ahead—locally and internationally.”

Kulcha Rum’s product offerings include White Rum, Gold Rum, and a cannabis-inspired flavour variant developed using herbal flavour notes and fully compliant with Jamaican regulatory requirements. It is distributed nationally through Miracle Corporation, with additional distributors to be appointed as part of the brand’s growth strategy. Kintyre Holdings is an investment holding company focused on building and acquiring high-potential businesses across strategic sectors, with a commitment to disciplined execution, long-term value creation, and Jamaican-led growth.
