While recalling the events of a recent, nearly fatal car accident, dancehall artiste Kraff has urged fans to obey road signs, stating that he should not be alive today, but that a higher power saved him.

Just moments before his birthday, the artiste was involved in a car accident near Montego Bay, St James, last Saturday (December 10) that almost took his life.

In an interview with The Fix podcast, he shared that he was trying to get to another event on time when the incident occurred.

“I just performed for a show I was booked for in Trelawny and I was on my way to another show that I was booked for in Montego Bay. So basically I was trying to meet the expectations of the promoter. A try meet the expectations of the time,” he shared.

Reports are that the car he was traveling in hit a partition in the road and flipped, landing in a ditch on its roof.

According to Kraff, he had sped off from his entourage who he was travelling with, but he was in a “groggy” state at the time.

“We have a ting weh mi say we brain deh a 20 per cent and at that time my brain was at one per cent, almost reach ah zero. So mi deh deh a try tek on di road pon di one per cent,” he recalled.

After the crash, he said he remembers hearing multiple people trying to speak to him.

When he regained consciousness, he said he saw videos of the crash that showed the car almost exploded into flames.

“When dem pull mi outta di car, dem a tell mi seh from mi head to me toe a gas. Suh even if one spark di spark a just it dah fi mi. And dem show mi one video one time where is like di car spark and dem affi leff di car,” he recalled.

Luckily, a man he refers to as ‘Deep Joy’ decided to turn back and save him, willing to sacrifice his life for the OG Bobby Johnson artiste. Others then joined in to get Kraff out of the car.

“Even di doctor dem a look pon mi and a really wonder if a me dem a talk to a night time. ‘Cause an accident like that I’m not supposed to be alive right now,” he said.

While reflecting on the entire accident, he said it “seems there was a higher spirit at work that night”.

He added: “Fi ah car flip five times wid yuh and den land and then flip again, yuh nuh suppose to survive dat. And even if yuh survive dat yuh hand supposed to bruk or yuh foot,” he stated.

When Kraff was hospitalised, he was released the same day with only minor injuries.

The artiste said he currently has a headache, with his hands and legs still hurting, but he is grateful to be alive. He also shared that his ear was cut in the process, but he is recovering well.

The Air Force 1 artiste then encouraged users to be cautious on the road.

“Just ensure seh unuh cautious pon di road. Seh for example you see a sign weh seh 60, no badda feel like seh a di maddest life and yah guh double dat and guh 120. ‘Cause yuh might not [be] as lucky as me,” he warned.
