LaMelo Ball’s middle finger just cost him a cool $35,000.
The NBA slapped the Hornets star with a fine after he flipped off a referee during Charlotte’s clash with the Miami Heat on Thursday (October 30).
The incident happened in the final minutes at Miami’s Kaseya Center, right after Ball was whistled for an offensive foul. A technical foul followed, and so did the hefty price tag.
It wasn’t the only eyebrow-raising moment from Ball last night.
Earlier, he accidentally kicked the ball straight into opponent Davion Mitchell’s face, adding another layer to his frustrating evening. Frustration seems fair — the Hornets were trounced 144-117, even though Ball led the team with 20 points.
With Charlotte sitting at 2-2 for the season, there’s at least a small silver lining. Ball, a former NBA Rookie of the Year, has put up 21.1 points per game over six seasons with Charlotte. Yet, despite his personal numbers, the playoffs have remained out of reach for the franchise, which hasn’t made it since the 2015-16 season.
