Top Jamaican player Leon Bailey has been recalled to the Reggae Boyz set-up after months out on suspension, and his agent and adopted father Craig Butler, told Our Today, it’s in the best interest of all.

“Leon has always loved his country and wants to play for his country,” said Butler.

“And being able to come to a place where everybody is happy and everybody gonna do the best they can afford for Jamaica, is the best thing that can happen for Jamaica and for Leon. So I am pretty happy with this,” Butler added.

The 27-year-old Bailey who plays for English team Aston Villa was dropped by then National coach Heimir Hallgrimsson of Iceland last November.

The ruling Jamaica Football Federation then suspended Bailey, saying its decision was made following recent incidents, including that the Aston Villa winger opted to not participate in the Copa America 2024 team after being selected, and his announcement that he was taking a break from International Football.

But things have worked out nicely for all the stakeholders and Bailey has been included in the new head coach Steve McLaren’s team for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League fixtures against Cuba and Honduras on September 6 and 10.
