Levar Smith has been appointed the new president of the Jamaica Insurance Brokers Association (JIBA), the leading national body representing domestically licensed insurance brokers.

Smith, who also serves as president and CEO of Marathon Insurance Brokers Limited (MIB), brings over 18 years of distinguished experience in the insurance industry to this prestigious role, having previously served as JIBA vice president.

His deep industry insight and commitment to professional excellence have earned him the respect of colleagues across the sector.

In addition to his leadership at MIB, Smith has made significant contributions to national development. He holds board-level positions with the Jamaica 4-H Clubs and Agro-Invest Corporation and is deputy chairman of the board of Federal Capital Investment & Finance Limited.

Smith is also a dedicated educator, lecturing at the Real Estate Board’s Training Institute where he shares his industry knowledge with aspiring professionals.

Speaking on his appointment, Smith remarked: “I am honoured to lead the Jamaica Insurance Brokers Association at this critical time in our industry. I look forward to working with my colleagues to advocate for greater industry standards, innovation, and sustainable growth, while keeping the interests of clients at the center of our mission.”
