The 2026 Winter Olympics got off to a shaky start when the curling venue was hit by a sudden power outage just minutes into the first match. 

Fans at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium got only four minutes of play before the lights began flickering and the action came to an unexpected halt.

Luckily, power was quickly restored, letting the competition continue, but the cause of the blackout remains a mystery.

Curling will resume with Team USA taking on Norway and Switzerland in the Mixed Doubles round robin, just days before the official opening ceremony.

Here’s hoping the lights stay on for the rest of the Games because no one wants the Olympics to start with a blackout encore.
