Man charged with breaching Alien’s Act for transporting Haitian immigrants

The Port Antonio police have charged a man with breaches of the Alien’s Act after he was caught transporting 12 Haitians who arrived on the island illegally.

He is 32-year-old Christopher Piggott otherwise called ‘Boysie’ a labourer of Montpelier district, Anchovy, St. James.

Reports from the Port Antonio police are that lawmen acting on information intercepted a black
2012 Nissan Serena vehicle about 10:20 am, along Dolphin Bay main road, Port Antonio
Portland, which was suspected to be transporting an undetermined amount of Haitians on Wednesday, May 22.

After the interception of the vehicle, the lawmen counted twelve illegal immigrants from Haiti.

The driver was subsequently arrested and charged.

Piggott’s court date is being finalised.
