Manchester City are set to land Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi this month in a deal reportedly worth £20 million.
The England centre back, 25, has emerged as a top target for City after injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias left their defence stretched.
Guehi, whose contract runs out this summer, was nearly a Liverpool signing last year and has been linked with several elite European clubs. Talks with City accelerated in the past 24 hours, and the defender is now expected to sign a long-term contract, with personal terms expected to be straightforward.
City have already strengthened this window with the £62.5 million signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. Guehi’s potential move coincides with Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner announcing he will leave the club when his contract expires in June. While he had hoped Guehi would remain until season’s end, the deal reached Thursday night appears to have nudged Glasner to confirm his exit plans
