Assistant Superintendent of Police Adrian Flemming has announced that May Pen, Clarendon, recorded zero murders in May.
Flemming also reported a 51 per cent reduction in murders across the Clarendon Police Division since the start of the year—a trend he says reflects broader improvements in public safety.
Speaking at Thursday’s sitting of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation, Flemming noted that the clear-up rate for murder cases jumped to 75 per cent between January 1 and June 8, up from 18 per cent over the same period last year. He credited the improvement to more effective investigative work and better internal coordination within the police force.
Overall, major crimes in the parish are down 21.2 per cent, with 141 cases reported so far in 2025, compared to 171 during the same period in 2024.
Rape cases have declined by 66.7 per cent, with an 80 per cent clear-up rate, while shooting incidents are down 45 per cent, with a 28 per cent clear-up rate.
