Real Madrid face uncertainty over Kylian Mbappé’s availability for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Manchester City after the star forward missed Monday’s training.

Mbappé has struggled with a persistent knee injury all season, and this marks the third time it has forced him out of action. He has already missed Madrid’s last three matches across competitions.

The Frenchman travelled back to Paris for treatment before returning to Madrid, keeping the possibility of featuring against City alive. Still, his absence from Monday’s session suggests he may only be fit enough for a place on the bench, rather than a starting role.

Mbappé faced a similar situation earlier in the season, coincidentally against Manchester City in the Champions League group stage. Though declared fit, he spent the 2–1 defeat on the bench, unused, as the club took no risks with his recovery.
