Only one of the two burning questions has been answered as it has been confirmed that Lionel Messi will indeed travel to Jamaica for the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
However, it is uncertain whether he will start or come off the bench when his team, Inter Miami, face off against Premier League Cavalier SC on Thursday.
The 37-year-old football superstar regarded as the greatest player of all time trained with his Inter Miami teammates on Tuesday and his coach Javier Mascherano revealed that Messi would make the trip to Jamaica with the team.
Inter Miami holds a 2-0 advantage from the first leg in Fort Lauderdale from last week with Messi watching from the stands. Messi has not played in Inter Miami’s last three games with what Mascherano described as “muscle fatigue”.
The moment it was revealed that Cavalier would be playing Inter Miami, ticket sales for the National Stadium went through the roof and it is reported that the grandstand area is sold out and tickets are only available for the Bleachers sections.
Inter Miami has several stars on the team including Luiz Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba but it’s Messi who is the pulling power.
He has set numerous records for individual accolades won throughout his career, winning the Ballon d’Or eight times and Best FIFA men’s player four times.
His 45 team trophies make him the most decorated player in the history of professional football, including two league titles, four UEFA Champions League, two Copa America and one World Cup.
