Former first lady Michelle Obama has launched a podcast with her brother, Craig Robinson, titled ‘IMO’ (In My Opinion).
The show, which explores personal stories and family dynamics, has received mixed reactions from the public.
Announcing the project on Instagram, Obama acknowledged the complexities of the current moment.
“There’s a lot going on in the world right now. We’re living through some really complicated and confusing times,” she wrote. She explained that the podcast hopes to provide insight and humour, saying, “Craig is one of the people I turn to whenever I have anything on my mind. He always has the insights, the wisdom, and the humour to get me through anything.”
Supporters of Obama have welcomed the project, celebrating her continued presence in public discourse. “I love this woman. I love this woman. I am so proud to have seen her be the First Lady. I’m so proud of her,” one commenter wrote on Facebook.
Another added, “Omg this is so needed right now. Thank God for this family who are capable of delivering positive messages.”
Many see the podcast as an extension of her work to inspire and engage audiences through storytelling.

However, critics argue that Obama’s focus should be on more pressing national issues.
“How about speaking up NOW about what is happening in our country? Somehow, listening to a new podcast feels like a low priority, relatively speaking (sic),” another commenter stated. Some have questioned whether the timing of the project is appropriate given current political and social challenges.
Obama acknowledged that she and Robinson “don’t have all the answers” but promised “a lot of opinions, a lot of learning, and plenty of laughs.” She also invited listeners to contribute to future episodes, saying, “We want to hear from you, too! Tell us what you’re grappling with at imopod.com.”
Whether the podcast will win over sceptics remains to be seen, but its hosts are hoping to have meaningful conversations in an uncertain time.
