Microsoft has announced the launch of the “Windows app,” a versatile application designed for iOS, iPadOS, the web, and Windows.

Unveiled at Ignite 2023, this app empowers users to seamlessly connect to their Windows PCs remotely, transcending geographical constraints.

The app is currently available in preview, providing users with the capability to link up their Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Dev Box, or personal Remote Desktop PC.

The Windows app functions as a customisable home screen, consolidating all of Microsoft’s current Cloud PC services along with Remote Desktop and RDP connections. Notably, it supports intricate features such as multi-monitor setups, custom display resolutions, dynamic display resolutions and scaling, peripheral redirection, and more.

Despite Microsoft’s initial assertion that the app is exclusively available on iPadOS, iOS, Windows, and the web, a provided screenshot intriguingly displays the app running on an Android tablet. This sparks curiosity about the potential release of an Android version in the near future. The web app can be accessed at the windows.cloud.microsoft URL.

In tandem with the Windows app’s introduction, Microsoft has also revealed a series of enhancements scheduled for the Windows 365 service. These improvements encompass support for GPUs, new AI capabilities, Cloud PC watermarking, and various other enhancements.
