The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries is set to roll out several strategies under its ‘Grow Smart, Eat Smart’ Campaign this year.
Pearnel Charles Jr, Minister of Agriculture outlined that the campaign will include a Research Day to showcase the various careers in the agricultural sector.
He also outlined that the ministry will be rolling out its Planning with a Purpose programme which will focus on collaborations with the churches, schools, correctional institutions and other stakeholders in society to aid in the development of the sector.

Charles also made reference to a ‘Grow Smart, Eat Smart’ innovation challenge “where competitors will be invited to share their innovative ideas on how we can use technology to bolster our efforts to grow smart and ultimately, eat smart”.
He also noted that the campaign aims to empower youths to explore viable career options in the agricultural sector.
“We seek to… empower them, while educating them about the Grow Smart, Eat Smart programmes and the part they will play in making this a national success,” he said.
The campaign was launched in 2022 and aims to strengthen food security, drive resilience and stainability, and improve efficiencies within the agricultural sector.
