With continued competition from low-cost carriers in the Caribbean, American Airlines (AA) is continuing to ramp-up its region-wide expansion for the upcoming winter travel season adding another new daily flight out of Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Beginning December 5, AA is strengthening its Charlotte-Montego Bay service with another daily flight, bringing a total of four daily flights. Also on this day, the American carrier will be expanding its Charlotte-Belize flights to daily service.
The move comes as the American carrier is adding daily flights and expanding service to a host of destinations around the Caribbean, including several additions out of Charlotte. It’s part of a broader 40 percent increase in flights from Charlotte to Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.
AA has also announced new daily flights from Charlotte to destinations including St Croix, Curaçao, Los Cabos and Puerto Plata. Those imminent launches are accompanied by increases to four daily flights between Charlotte and Punta Cana and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
AA will be operating a total of 10 different routes from Charlotte to the Caribbean and Mexico this winter. It’s a strong message of American’s confidence in the Caribbean market ahead of the next big tourism season.
In the meantime, Charlotte continues to grow as a source market for Caribbean travel, joining an increasing of number of important feeder markets for the region beyond traditional hubs like New York and Miami.
