American carrier JetBlue has added more flights on New York City and Nassau in The Bahamas route.
The new non-stop service is operating every day between New York’s LaGuardia International Airport and Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport. The flights, which kicked off last week, take just over three hours.
This is good news for the Caribbean destination, in particular Nassau’s Paradise Island, which is seeing surging visitor numbers. Last year hotel occupancy climbed by 23.2 per cent and room revenue surpass 2021 levels by 112 per cent.
Caribbean Journal reports that Nassau’s Paradise Island now has non-stop air service from more than 38 markets worldwide, including in the United States, Canada, Europe and South America. Air arrivals this year are likely to exceed the destination’s visitor numbers from 2019, before the onset of the pandemic, with tourism officials very optimistic about what’s ahead for the rest of 2023.
From the strong success of larger resorts like Atlantis Paradise Island and the Baha Mar to boutique hotels like Graycliff, the destination continues to grow and diversify.
This includes a dynamic culinary scene that has become arguably the hottest in the Caribbean, cultivating new local eateries and drawing in top chefs like the Michelin-starred Michael White, who is opening a new Italian-focused eatery at Atlantis this quarter.
Nassau also just welcomed a brand-new resort, the highly-anticipated new Goldwynn Resort and Residences, the first-ever luxury residential resort on Cable Beach.
