Mount Pleasant Football Academy heaped more agony on Arnett Gardens on Sunday (July 25), as they scored a late goal to secure a 1-0 win in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) clash at the Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence at the University of the West Indies.
The winning goal was scored by Kesslon Hall with 11 minutes remaining in the match as Mount Pleasant won their second match after five rounds and subjected Arnett Gardens to their third loss in four matches.
Mount Pleasant moved up three places to fourth in the points standing as they are on eight points, while Arnett, on three points, dropped a place to ninth.

The competition is being led by reigning champions Portmore United on 12 points followed by Vere United on 11. Harbour View and Mount Pleasant are locked on eight points, but Harbour View lead on goal difference as the top five is completed by Cavalier on seven points.
Both teams traded attacks for most of the match and created good opportunities to convert until Hall, who had missed several chances to score before, headed home a cross from the right after he was left unmarked at the back post.
“There was a little more energy this week. We spoke about starting the game better and playing at pace. I was happy with the way we started today. I felt we really played well in the first half.”
Walter Downes, technical director of Mount Pleasant
According to technical director Walter Downes, Mount Pleasant played according to plans.
“There was a little more energy this week. We spoke about starting the game better and playing at pace. I was happy with the way we started today. I felt we really played well in the first half,” Downes said.
Alex Thomas, coach of Arnett Gardens, believes their ability to get the ball into the back of the net was the main factor for the loss.
