Rising Jamaican brother-duo Circa Eleven have made their vocal debut with the Latin-inspired track Interest.

The duo, comprising Phillip ‘circa.phil’ and Mark ‘circa.fatman’ Myers, are multi-dimensional creatives whose talents include music production, disc jockeying and instrumentals.

Interest, a collaboration between fellow Jamaican acts Mundo Don and Rizk, came about quite simply from a love of fusing genres with that of their native Jamaican music and culture. “One day we were in the studio, just parring and was feeling very inspired by Latin music,” Phillip said. “We were listening to a lot of Bachata and Reggaeton and decided to just throw a little Dancehall ‘seasoning’ on top of all that.”

Rizk and Circa Eleven had been collaborating for a year or two prior to this song; whenever Rizk was in Jamaica he would visit their home studio.

Mundo had a session with them that day and decided to stick around while they bounced ideas off each other. “I started off playing the melody on the keys and then decided to add in some Latin percussion,” Phillip said. “Then the rest kinda just fell into place and I decided that this track was too groovy for Circa not to be on it vocally; we’ve been toying with the idea of using our vocals more.”

The duo is currently working on exciting productions alongside Tessellated, Rizk, Mundo Don and a whole of other local and international acts.

Additionally, they have plans to release one vocal track per quarter for the rest of the year.
