NHF cops top award at Corporate Governance Awards

The National Health Fund (NHF) copped top prizes at the Public Bodies’ Corporate Governance Awards on December 4, 2024, winning six, including the coveted Greta Bogues Award for Overall Winner. 

The prestigious event, held at The Jamaica Pegasus, was hosted by the Ministry of Finance and Public Service (MoFPS) in collaboration with the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) to recognize excellence in corporate governance among public bodies.

The NHF was acknowledged for its outstanding governance and operational practices, receiving:

  • Greta Bogues Award for Overall Winner – The top honour of the evening.
  • Financial Secretary’s Award for Risk Measurement and Internal Controls – 1st place.
  • Carlene O’Connor’s Award for Corporate Governance Policies, Procedures & Practices – 1st place.
  • Ann Marie Rhoden’s Award for Compliance & Disclosure of Information – 3rd place.
  • Best Website – 1st place (special award).
  • Best Annual Report – 2nd place (special award).

“The Board of Management is keen on setting the tone for greater levels of accountability to ensure we meet stakeholders’ expectations, and remain compliant with the regulatory requirements. These awards are a testament to the NHF’s unwavering dedication to excellence, and transparency, in serving the people of Jamaica. They reflect the hard work of our entire team and reaffirm our commitment to upholding and promoting corporate governance practices,” said Shane Dalling, board chairman of the NHF.

Corporate governance remains central to the NHF’s operations and is crucial to delivering high-quality services to the Jamaican population.

NHF Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Everton Anderson says the team is honoured by the win and expresses gratitude to the organizers, “The entire team—senior management, and staff—was absolutely elated upon winning the six awards. Thanks to the Ministry of Finance and Public Service, and the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica for recognising our effort.”

“I must also congratulate the other stellar public bodies who were awarded for their hard work”, he added. “Let us continue to carry out our mission for which our organizations were established, with integrity and pride.” 

The MoFPS/PSOJ Public Bodies’ Corporate Governance Awards was conceptualised to identify and reward public bodies that have established high standards of corporate governance disclosure and practices. This year’s theme was ‘Fuelling Change for Global Impact’.
