The finale of Peacock’s Love Island USA aired last night and viewers finally discovered who was voted the most compatible couple after 6 weeks of debauchery, steamy challenges and betrayals.

‘Love Island USA’ follows their British counterpart of the same name where attractive, single contestants go to a villa usually in a vacation destination (like Fiji or Mallorca) and are coupled up to avoid being kicked off the ‘island’. Dubbed ‘islanders’, the contestants and their couples are put through multiple tests to prove the strength of their relationships with the scandalous ‘Casa Amor’ which introduces even more contestants at an alternative villa. Islanders are separated and either the girls or boys visit Casa Amor while their partners remain in the main villa.

This season’s ‘Love Island USA’ hosted by tv star Ariana Madix, soared in popularity after various clips on social media showed the tantalizing drama between contestants Serena Paige and Kordell Beckham, after he brought back a girl from Casa Amor while in a couple with Serena.

The fiery Leah Ketab also went viral for her conflicted relationship with Rob Rausch and her hilarious one liners. Other funny moments were with the Kaylor Martin who seemed to be in tears for almost the entirety of later episodes.

After weeks in the villa, with recouplings (contestants choosing if they would stick with their existing connection or recouple with another person) and dumpings galore, the final four contestants were: Serena and Kordell, Jana Craig and Kenny Rodriguez, Kendall Washington and Daniella Ortiz Rivera, and Leah Kateb and Miguel Harichi.

As viewers watched the slow-burn and eventual build-up of Serena’s and Kordell’s relationship, we saw their ups and downs, the ugly and the bad and it’s no surprise that this couple was victorious in winning the $100,000 cash prize.

The pair encapsulates healthy black love, and its no mystery why they were the fan favourites with overwhelming social media support and the approval of Odell Beckham Jr. , Kordell’s older brother. Unintentionally wearing matching colours in the pilot episode, the two even realised on the ‘Chics in the Office’ podcast that they had lived in the same neighbourhood growing up but never saw each other.

Their fate seemed to be intertwined at the beginning and as one last hurrah the couple even decided to match colours one last time during the finale.

Kordell received the envelope with the cash prize and could keep all $ 100,000 or split it with his beau. Unsurprisingly he split the cash and celebrated their victory with friends in the final four, marking a gratifying end to the suspenseful reality TV show.

The strong, charismatic cast of this season accelerated the show’s popularity as this season of ‘Love Island USA’ is the most popular of all the seasons and was categorized as the most watched streaming reality series in the U.S. by Nielson ratings.
