
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) of the Dominican Republic reported that leaders and senior officials from 87 nations and 21 international organisations are in the country to participate in the swearing-in of a second constitutional term of President Luis Abinader and Vice-President Raquel Peña.
The official ceremony also coincides with the 161st anniversary of the Restoration of the Republic.
“This historic participation of heads of state and/or government and representatives of friendly nations is a sign of President Luis Abinader’s leadership at the international level and the recognition of the institutional strengthening that the country has shown in the last four years,” said the Dominican Foreign Ministry.
The King of Spain, Felipe VI; the presidents of Honduras, Xiomara Castro; Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo; Panama, José Raúl Mulino Quintero; Paraguay, Santiago Peña Palacios; of Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi; of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou; and the vice-president of El Salvador, Félix Ulloa will attend.
Also present will be the prime ministers of The Bahamas, Philip Edward Davis; from Belize, John Briceño; of Guyana, Mark Phillips; and of Curaçao, representing the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Gilmar Pisas; in addition, to Governor of Puerto Rico Pedro Pierluisi, and the governor general of Antigua and Barbuda, Rodney Williams.

Likewise, the foreign ministers Diana Elena Mondino, of Argentina; Frederick A Mitchell, from The Bahamas; Mauro Viera, from Brazil; Alberto Van Klaveren, from Chile; Luis Gilberto Murillo, from Colombia; Arnoldo Ricardo André Tinoco, from Costa Rica; Gabriela Sommerfeld, from Ecuador; Nasser Bourita, from Morocco; Javier Eduardo Martínez, from Panama; Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, from Paraguay; Javier González Olaechea, from Peru; and Omar Paganini, from Uruguay.
In addition, high-level officials such as deputy prime ministers, ministers of state, deputy ministers, ambassadors, special envoys, were appointed to accompany President Abinader by the governments of the United States, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Cuba, China, Congo, Korea, Emirates United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Mexico, Equatorial Guinea, India, Iran, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Norway, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Russia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, South Africa, Sweden, Ukraine, Thailand, Republic of Belarus, Serbia, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, among others.
International organisations such as the United Nations (UN), the Organization) American States (OAS), the Ibero-American General Secretariat and the Development Bank of America Latin America and the Caribbean, among others, were also represented at the highest level at the swearing-in of President Abinader.
