Jamaica’s Elite Swimmers and Rising Regional Talent Set to Converge at National Aquatic Centre
Jamaica’s swimming spotlight will turn to the National Aquatic Centre from May 22–24, 2026, as the Tornadoes Swim Club, one of the country’s premier aquatic programmes, stages its highly anticipated Tornadoes High-Performance Swim Meet.
The three-day competition is expected to attract many of the island’s top swimmers, alongside regional athletes, for one of the most competitive meets on the local calendar.
Headlining this year’s staging is Olympian Sabrina Lyn, whose participation is set to elevate the competitive standard of the event while inspiring Jamaica’s next generation of swimmers. Her appearance adds significant prestige to a meet already attracting strong interest from leading clubs and regional delegations.

Hosted by the Kingston-based Tornadoes Swim Club, the three-day championship is designed to provide a true high-performance racing environment for athletes preparing for upcoming regional and international competitions, including events along the Pan American Age Group pathway.
With approximately 10 clubs and regional teams expected to participate, spectators can look forward to a thrilling weekend of elite racing, club rivalries, breakthrough performances, and qualifying opportunities.
More than just a competition, the Tornadoes High-Performance Swim Meet continues to strengthen Jamaica’s swimming development pipeline by exposing athletes to elite-level racing standards in a professionally managed environment.
According to Tornadoes Swim Club President, Wendy Lee: “The Tornadoes High-Performance Swim Meet continues to play a critical role in the growth of competitive swimming in Jamaica. It creates a platform where athletes can challenge themselves against strong local and regional competition while pursuing qualifying standards for international representation. We are especially excited to welcome Olympian Sabrina Lyn, whose presence will undoubtedly inspire young swimmers and raise the level of competition throughout the meet.”

Sanctioned by the Aquatic Sports Association of Jamaica (ASAJ), the competition will unfold over three days of racing at the National Aquatic Centre, beginning on Friday evening and continuing throughout the weekend. Events will take place on Friday, May 22 at 5:30 p.m., followed by morning and afternoon sessions on Saturday, May 23 at 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and a final session on Sunday, May 24 at 9:00 a.m. The schedule is designed to accommodate a full programme of youth, junior, senior, relay, sprint, distance, and asters events across multiple disciplines.
Swimming fans, families, and members of the sporting community are encouraged to attend and support Jamaica’s emerging and elite athletes as they compete in one of the country’s premier swimming showcases.
Spectators, families, and members of the sporting community will have the opportunity to attend all sessions of the meet. Season passes, priced at JMD $2,500, will provide access to the full three-day competition, offering supporters a convenient way to experience the entire championship weekend.
An official press conference for the event will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the National Aquatic Centre. Media representatives, sponsors, and stakeholders are invited to attend. Interview opportunities with athletes, coaches, and officials will be available following the launch.
