Paris St-Germain and France star Ousmane Dembele has added another major honour to his collection after being named men’s player of the year at the FIFA Best awards.
The ceremony took place in Qatar on Tuesday, where the 28-year-old picked up the prize just months after winning the Ballon d’Or.
Dembele’s award follows a notable 2024–25 season in which he helped PSG lift four trophies, including their first Champions League title. Since arriving from Barcelona in 2023, he has recorded 51 goal contributions in 53 matches last season. His performances saw him finish ahead of Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe in the voting.
The French attacker attended the ceremony on the eve of PSG’s Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo. Voting for the award covered performances between August 2024 and August 2025 and involved national team coaches, captains, journalists, and fans worldwide.
After a slow start to last season, Dembele’s campaign took off when he was moved into a central role. He went on to score 35 goals, with eight coming in the Champions League, including decisive moments against Liverpool and Arsenal in the knockout rounds. His name now sits alongside past winners such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
