Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) President Michael Ricketts confirmed on Friday (June 18) that Paul Hall will join the coaching staff of the Reggae Boyz on a part-time basis through to the end of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The appointment came as the JFF named a provisional 30-man squad for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States.

Hall, a former Reggae Boy who played for Jamaica between 1997 and 2003 and was instrumental in helping Jamaica qualify for the 1998 World Cup in France, will work with Head Coach Theodore Whitmore in training camps and for international matches.

When not in the service of the Jamaican team, he will continue his work as a coach at EFL Championship club Queens Park Rangers.

“I am honoured and privileged to have been asked to be the assistant coach of the Jamaica National Senior Team. This will be on a part-time basis so I will continue to work with QPR and develop players, which I am passionate about,” Hall said.

In April, reports surfaced that the JFF was in discussions with Hall, who holds a UEFA ‘A’ license, to join the  coaching staff as an assistant coach. However, General-Secretary Dalton Wint said at the time that Hall was not the only person that the JFF was having discussions with.

“We are in discussions with several people (including Hall) but nothing has been confirmed,” Wint said then.

However, following final discussions on Friday morning with Hall and his agent Fitzroy Simpson, it was agreed that Hall would begin immediately with the team that is currently preparing for the CONCACAF Gold Cup competition set to kick off in the United States in July.

Ricketts said there was already a synergy between Hall and Whitmore, who were teammates on the Jamaica National team during the 1998 World Cup campaign under Brazilian coach Rene Simoes. The president said that Hall could prove to be beneficial considering the number of English players currently in the squad.

The appointment was also in sync with the JFF naming a 30-man squad that will begin fine-tuning preparations for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the coming days.

The squad includes: Jashaun Mustaf (Miami FC), Michail Antonio (West Ham United), Leon Bailey (Bayer Leverkusen), Dillon Barnes (Queens Park Rangers), Amarii Bell (Blackburn Rovers), Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union), Brian Brown (New Mexico United), Javain Brown (Vancouver Whitecaps), Corey Burke (Philadelphia Union), Norman Campbell (FK Graficar Beograd), Akeem Chambers (Waterhouse FC), Jordan Cousins (Wigan Athletic), Javon East (Santos de Guapiles), Oniel Fisher (LA Galaxy), Junior Flemmings (Birmingham Legion), Kemar Foster (Portmore United), Owayne Gordon (Austin Bold), Andre Gray (Watford FC), Wesley Harding (Rotherham United FC), Michael Hector ( Fulham FC), Kevaughn Isaacs (Mount Pleasant FA), Daniel Johnson (Preston North End FC), Dane Kelly (Charlotte Independence), Amal Knight (unattached), Kevon Lambert (Phoenix Rising FC), Kemar Lawrence (Toronto FC), Gregory Leigh (Aberdeen FC), Luca Levee (Harbour View FC), Damion Lowe (Al Ittihad), Jamal Lowe (Swansea City), Tyreek Magee (Kas Eupen), Kemal Malcolm (AD Chalatenango), Adrian Mariappa (Bristol City FC),  Chevone Marsh (AD Chalatenango), Dwayne Miller (Syrianska FC), Liam Moore (Reading FC), Ricardo Morris (Portmore United FC), Ravel Morrison (unattached), Colorado Murray (Waterhouse FC), Shamar Nicholson (Royal Charleroi SC), Dever Orgill (MKE Ankaraguco SK), Kasey Palmer (Bristol City FC), Kaheem Parris (NK Krka), Ethan Pinnock (Brentford FC), Alvas Powell (Philadelphia Union), Bobby Reid (Fulham FC), Ladale Richie (Mount Pleasant FA), Kemar Roofe (Rangers FC), Kevin Stewart (Blackpool FC), Ajeanie Talbott (Harbour View FC), Dennis Taylor (Humble Lion FC), Curtis Tilt (Rotherham United FC), Blair Turgott (Ostersunds FK), Peter Vassell (Indy Eleven), Lamar Walker (Miami FC), Je-vaughn Watson (unattached), Jeadine White (Cavalier FC), Devon Williams (Miami FC) Romario Williams (Al Ittihad) and Chavany Willis (Portmore United FC).
