Jamaican motorists and industry giants will have to dig deeper into their coffers this week, as state-owned refinery, Petrojam, unveils the latest update to its pricing regimen.
Effective Thursday (January 18), 87-octane gasolene will cost $0.25 more than its baseline price from the week prior. The product now opens at $165.89 per litre, after applied taxes
The price increases were consistent across Petrojam’s closely watched petroleum product price index, which were pronounced for automotive diesel, its ultra-low sulphur counterpart, kerosene, propane and butane.
On the other hand, prices for heavy fuel oil (HFO) were the only commodity to fall over the past seven days, dropping $3.06 this week.
It is expected retailers will add their respective mark-ups to the announced prices.
