To ensure continuity of fuel supplies across Jamaica, the country’s multi-energy innovator, Petrojam, is announcing the reopening of its Kingston Industrial Loading Rack, signalling the resumption of daily deliveries.

“Our role as a dependable fuel source is essential to sustaining critical rebuilding efforts, commercial operations, and everyday consumer activities as Jamaica gets back to normal as quickly as possible,” commented Telroy Morgan, General Manager for Petrojam. He added, “We depended a lot on our dedicated teams who worked around-the-clock to get us back to fuelling Jamaica quickly and safely, right after the hurricane.”

Kingston/Saint Andrew, Jamaica – February 05 2019: PetroJam Limited located on Marcus Garvey Drive in Jamaica, is the entity which manages the country’s sole oil/petroleum refinery.

Since early Thursday morning, tankers have been rolling out of the oil major’s refinery in Kingston with substantial supplies of 87 and 90-octane gasoline, and ultra-low-sulphur diesel destined for fuel stations across the country. As air traffic activity resumes, Petrojam is also ensuring that the country’s international airports and aerodromes are receiving adequate supplies of aviation fuel. In the meantime, Petrojam’s fuel loading facility in Montego is undergoing additional inspections ahead of reopening.

Following the reopening of the Port of Kingston on Wednesday night, Petrojam will begin accepting shipments of crude oil and finished products to restart refining and supply the local distributive trade and regional markets.

“Local fuel supply remains at a comfortable two to three weeks of consumption. With additional supplies underway, we are providing energy assurance through our proven supply and delivery flexibility.”

For 43 years, Jamaica has relied on Petrojam as the country’s energy safety net. Through its vast holding of national fuel reserves valued at over US$200 million (J$32 billion), Petrojam provides unparalleled energy security to Jamaica.
