Fitz Jackson, opposition spokesperson on security, says the People’s National Party (PNP) strongly condemns the brutal murder of two off-duty Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) constables, Charles Stewart and Jemarey Gordon, on Thursday (November 13).

Jackson, in a statement, noted that, “at a time when Jamaica is still reeling from the devastation of Hurricane Melissa, mourning the loss of lives, livelihood and grappling with widespread disruption, this latest attack on our security personnel deepens the national sorrow.

“Jamaicans are being forced to confront not only the pain of natural disaster but also the trauma of violent crime against our police officers,” he continued. “This vicious attack is not only an assault on individuals, but an assault on law-and-order and on all Jamaicans who rely on the security forces to protect them.

The PNP extended condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues and friends of constables Stewart and Gordon.

“We also express heartfelt sympathy to the family of constable Christopher Condappa, who tragically lost his life in a car crash on Monday, November 10. May the memories of these brave officers be honoured through justice, strengthened security measures and a renewed commitment to peace and safety. The PNP reaffirms our unwavering support for the JCF and for every member of our security services who daily puts their lives on the line in service of the nation,” the statement added.
