With the political campaign heating up ahead of this year’s general election, People’s National Party (PNP) leader Mark Golding presented retired cop Steve McGregor as the standard bearer for the Central Kingston constituency last night (January 15).

At a rally at its North Avenue constituency office in Kingston Gardens, McGregor insisted he is the man for the job and has thrown down the gauntlet to wrest the traditionally ‘orange’ seat from the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).

McGregor retired from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) as a senior superintendent and was head of the Kingston Western police division for several years.

His selection comes just days after Lawrence Rowe was unceremoniously stripped from being the designated caretaker.
