Portmore United and Cavalier SC will contest the final of the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League with exciting wins over Mount Pleasant and Montego Bay United, respectively, at the National Stadium on Wednesday.
Portmore United defeated Mount Pleasant 4-2 in their second-leg semi-final match, winning the two-legged tie 4-3 on aggregate, while Cavalier blanked Montego Bay United 2-0 to win the tie 2-1 on aggregate and marched into the final of the Wray and Nephew Jamaican Premier League set for Sunday.
Portmore got their goals from Tarick Ximinez (23rd) and Ronaldo Robinson (37th), while Raheem Edwards replied for Mount Pleasant in the 62nd minute as the game ended 2-1 at the end of regulation and 2-2 overall, forcing extra time.
Dunstin Coehn (105th) and Javier Brown (12th) scored twice for Portmore United in extra time while Jashaun Anglin converted a 108th-minute penalty for Mount Pleasant.
But it was Portmore United who are into their first final since 2019,
Meanwhile, Manning Cup star Kimarley Scott of Excelsior High, scored twice in the 54th minute for Cavalier and sent the game into extra time and again in the 98th minute as Cavalier waltzed into their fourth consecutive final and their fifth in the last six years.
Cavalier will be seeking their three consecutive wins, having won in 2024 and 2025, and before that in 2021. They lost to Mount Pleasant in 2023.
Both Cavalier and Portmore United will be Jamaica’s representatives in the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup, which kicks off in August 2026. This will be the fifth consecutive year for Cavalier in the tournament, while the first for Portmore since 2020.
The winner in the Third-placed Playoff between Mount Pleasant and Montego Bay United will represent Jamaica in the CFU Club Shield.
The draw for the 2026 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup will take place on May 26, at 5:30 pm Jamaican time.
