The postponed Wray and Nephew Premier League playoff first leg game between Montego Bay United and Tivoli Gardens at Sabina Park, will resume at the 36th minute this evening at Stadium East at 6:00 pm. Admission is free.

The game ended prematurely Thursday night because of a defective lighting system, with the score locked at 0-0.

Owen Hill, CEO of the Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL), said he is confident that there will not be a reoccurrence of what transpired on Thursday and has expressed deep regret following the incident. “I would say I’m a 1,000% confident. The truth, again, I keep saying, it’s a national event. It’s a Caribbean-wide product. I think all the stops will be pulled out,” said Hill.

Match officials contemplate their next move before postponing the game after the lights went out for over an hour during the game between Tivoli Gardens and Montego Bay United at Sabina Park on Thursday, May 8, 2025, with the score locked at 0-0 after 35 minutes. (Photo: Our Today)

“What was positioned to be a showcase of Jamaican football brilliance was prematurely halted due to a venue electrical failure,” he explained. “The revised date is a practical and necessary pivot—one made in the interest of maintaining fairness to the clubs involved, honouring the commitment to our fans and reinforcing operational integrity moving forward,” he added.

The second game between Portmore United and Cavalier will follow at 8:00 pm, a change from the 8:30 starting time on Thursday.

The second leg of these games remained the same for Monday, May 12, at Sabina Park.
