

A prime suspect in Sunday’s deadly mass shooting in Cherry Tree Lane, Four Paths, in Clarendon, has been fatally shot by the police.
He has been identified as Steve Smith, otherwise known as ‘Thicka’ or ‘Fly Brain’. Smith is said to be one of the shooters involved in the incident, which left eight people dead and nine injured.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said Smith was fatally shot on Wednesday afternoon (August 14) during a targeted operation by the police in Osbourne Store, Clarendon.
Reports are that members of the JCF went to a location in Osbourne Store, in search of Smith and other men who were suspected of being involved in Sunday’s multiple murders.
There was reportedly a confrontation during which Smith was shot and injured. He was taken to the May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Smith is suspected of being involved in numerous contract-related killings and other serious and illicit activities in Clarendon and other parishes.
He was also wanted by the May Pen Police for murder for some time and was a person of interest in several other murder investigations.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has commenced an investigation into the incident.
