Trinidad and Tobago Red Force dominated their West Indies Championship opener, dismantling the Leeward Islands Hurricanes by an innings and 271 runs in just three days.

From the first ball at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in St John’s, the visitors were in total control, turning what was expected to be a contest into a relentless, one sided masterclass.

The match turned on a massive unbeaten partnership between Amir Jangoo and Terrance Hinds. Resuming on 380 for five, Red Force piled on the runs to reach 507 before declaring, with Jangoo hammering an unbeaten 203 and Hinds adding a steady 100. The pair batted the Hurricanes out of the game with a stand that could not be broken.

Set a daunting deficit, the Hurricanes struggled to respond and were bowled out cheaply in their second innings for just 98. Early wickets from Jayden Seales and Anderson Phillip left them in trouble, and despite a fighting 56 not out from captain Justin Greaves, the innings quickly fell apart.

Khary Pierre led the charge with four wickets, backed by Bryan Charles and Phillip, as Red Force sealed the win.
