Red Stripe Flavours Netball Elite League kicks off with high-energy opening matches

The 2025 Red Stripe Flavours Netball Jamaica Elite League opened in fine form with a spirited double-header at the National Arena on Friday, June 27, 2025. 

The audience was treated to back-to-back matches as the St Catherine Racers faced off against the St Ann Orchids, followed by a high-energy clash between the Kingston Hummingbirds and Jamaica U21. The fixtures marked the start of a five-week competition featuring 14 matches, five teams and 56 of the island’s top domestic players.

The evening began with a well-executed opening ceremony that brought together team officials, athletes, corporate partners and netball supporters.

The formal programme included a parade of teams and officials, the National Anthem, opening remarks from Netball Jamaica, and pledges from players and coaches. Teams also debuted their uniforms before taking them to the court for the season’s first fixtures, as fans settled in for a night of top-tier local competition.

With the opening matches now behind them, teams will return to action on Friday as they look to build momentum early in the season. Games will continue every Friday and Sunday through July 27, 2025, as the Elite League reaffirms its place as the country’s leading domestic platform for netball.
