Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz have jumped six spots to be 37th in the world, according to today’s (August 25) global women’s rankings by football governing body FIFA.
The history-making Reggae Girlz maintain their place as the third best ranked squad in the CONCACAF region behind the United States (third) and Mexico (36th).
Jamaica also remains the Caribbean best-seeded team as of Haiti (52nd), Trinidad and Tobago (75th), Guyana (85th), Cuba (95th) and Puerto Rico (103) close out the region’s top five.
Fresh off the heels of a momentous Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand—where the Reggae Girlz held football powerhouses France and Brazil to group stage draws before defeating Panama for a historic knockout stage berth against Colombia—Jamaica’s performance earned the side its first break into the FIFA top 40 rankings.

Former perennial cup winners, the United States, fell two spots atop the rankings and make way for World Cup third-place outfit Sweden and maiden tourney winners Spain in first and second respectively.
On the other hand, Anguilla, Turks and Caicos Islands, South Sudan and Mauritius remain bottom-rung teams in the FIFA Women’s ranking.
