Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz have booked two International Friendlies against France and South Africa as they continue their preparations for the 2027 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which kick off in 2025.

Jamaica will play a French team that is ranked 10th in the world on Friday, October 25 in France before tackling 50th-ranked South Africa twice in Jamaica on November 29 and December 2.

The Reggae Girlz are ranked 42nd in the world, created history by qualifying for the last two World Cups and these games are crucial in their preparation.

President of the Jamaica Football Federation Michael Ricketts welcomes these games for the Reggae Girlz.

“We want to give our Reggae Girlz the best opportunity to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup and we feel these upcoming friendly internationals to end 2024 are beneficial to the coaching staff and players to help them prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers,” said Ricketts, in a press release.

Jamaica will travel to France to renew a growing rivalry that started at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia where the Reggae Girls surprisingly held them to a 0-0 draw as both teams qualified for the second round.

The game will be played at the Stade Auguste-Bonal (home of FC Sochaux-Montbeliard) which is in Eastern France. Kick-off time is slated for 9:05 pm local time and 2:05pm Jamaica time.

The Girlz will return home for two games against South Africa in Jamaica with the venues yet to be decided.

This will be the first time both teams are facing each other since April 2019 in Durban when they battled to a 1-1 draw.

Of note, both Jamaica and South Africa debuted in the senior Women’s World Cup in 2019 in France and in 2023 both teams advanced to the Round of 16 of the World Cup.

Jamaica’s first-round opponent is yet to be decided in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers in which the region will have four spots for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup which will be hosted in Brazil and two other teams from CONCACAF will qualify for the Intercontinental playoffs.
