After dedicating herself for years to the pursuit of excellence in the field of athletics, retired Jamaican sprinter Veronica Campbell-Brown on Sunday (September 5) added the People Profile Organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award to her list of noteworthy accolades.
According to the People Profile Organization, Campbell-Brown was deemed deserving of the award having performed exemplarily throughout her athletic career.
Campbell-Brown is an eight-time Olympic medalist who specialised in the 100m and 200m sprint events and is one of only nine athletes to win world championships at the youth, junior, and senior level of an athletic event.
Campbell-Brown’s track record is one that precedes her, as she was the first Jamaican woman to claim gold in the women’s 200m at the Olympics and the second woman in history to cop Gold in the 200m at consecutive Olympic Games.
As a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Vere Technical alumnus joins the likes of Jamaicans Oliver Samuels and Leonie Forbes who previously won the award.
In an Instagram post on Monday (September 6) Campbell-Brown stated: “Last night I was awarded the People Profile Lifetime Achievement award for my accomplishments in athletics. Thank you @peopleprofile @dr.allancunningham, I am humbled by this recognition, more so given the nobility and duty to care associated with the People Profile organization.”
Campbell-Brown officially retired from World Class athletics in June of 2021, after what she said was a “race well run”.
