RevUp Caribbean, a regional angel investor organisation founded by Joe Matalon and Sandra Glasgow, is growing and attracting more entrepreneurs.

It has now partnered with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and has graduated from being a virtual incubator.

Many young people want to be entrepreneurs, own their own business, but lack the necessary knowledge to go from ideation to execution.

RevUp Caribbean can assist in this regard, and not simply by providing funding-it can hold your hand and provide guidance on the journey. It goes where banks and other finance houses cannot.

On Tuesday night (October 21), RevUp Caribbean hosted a mixer at Waterfalls in Liguanea with many of the sixth cohort in attendance. That programme began on August 4th and ends on December 15th this year.

RevUP has come a long way since it was founded in November 2021.

The idea was to give Caribbean entrepreneurs the right tools, support, mentorship and connect them with the right people and entities.

Managing director of RevUp Caribbean, Sandra Glasgow, said last night: “Today, 145 founders have graduated from our programme. Two years ago, they reported that they had created 131 new jobs, with female-led businesses creating 2.2 times more jobs—a powerful testament to the force of women in leadership. Two years ago, they had generated over US$1 million in additional revenue and saved hundreds of thousands in operating expenses.

“Perhaps most meaningfully, 93 per cent of you told us that RevUp had a direct, measurable and positive impact on your business. Folks, these aren’t just statistics. They are the many inspiring stories behind these numbers. They are the 41 per cent of you who are leveraging AI and new tech; the 33 per cent who have become stronger leaders and built better teams; and the 38 per cent who have made your operations smarter and more efficient.

“Starting tonight, we become something more: a lifelong ecosystem. We are officially launching the RevUp Founders Growth and Community Support Network—the RevUp Community.  The past four years have been about proving what’s possible. The next chapter is about scaling that possibility across the entire Caribbean.”

Sandra Glasgow has imbued RevUp with not only passion but with her experience and ability to navigate the pitfalls of starting a business and seeing it grow. She has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the cause and many enterprises that sought the help of RevUp have her to thank for their progress.

‘Aunty Sandra’ did right by them, and they should be grateful.

RevUp Caribbean has received over 600 funding applications with over 20 deals successfully closed so far. It has over 60 trained and certified regional and international mentors to guide those under the RevUp umbrella. Sandra Glasgow takes corporate governance very seriously, and those who sign up to the RevUp program are expected to as well. She believes entrepreneurs can become a powerful engine for growth across the Caribbean.
