
Ackeem Auguste and Roston Chase hit 50 runs apiece and Romario Shepherd took a hat-trick, helping the West Indies beat Bangladesh by five wickets to win the third T20I with 19 balls remaining and sweep the series 3-0 in Chattogram on Friday.
The series whitewash was a good turn-around for the West Indies which lost the 50 Over ODI series to Bangladesh earlier and came into this series on the back of losing seven T20I series in a row.
The home team won the toss and decided to bat and were bowled out for 151 in their 20 overs as Tanzid Hasan struck 89 from 62 balls, inclusive of nine fours and four sixes and was ably supported by Saif Hassan with 23 with two sixes.
Romario Shepherd grabbed 3-36 from his four overs, Khary Pierre took 2-33 from three overs and Jason Holder snatched 2-32 from his four overs.
The West Indies started their run chase slowly, losing Alick Athanaze for one run at 6-1 then reached 37-2 when Beandon King was dismissed for eight runs.
Opener Amir Jangoo steadied the inning, hitting 34 from 23 balls before he went in the seventh over at 52-3. That brought Roston Chase and Ackeem Auguste to the crease and they sailed along merrily, setting the tone for the West Indies’ easy win with 19 balls to spare.
Auguste hit five sixes, including three in the 13th over off Rishan Hossain in his knock of 50 from 25 balls. Chase also made 50 from 29 balls with five fours and one six.
Rovman Powell was five not out and Gudakesh Motie made three not out and steered the West Indies home to victory.
Rishad Hosain took 3-43, Mahedi Hasan took 1-18 and Nasum Ahmed got 1-29.
