Rwanda president to visit Jamaica next week

EDITOR’S NOTE: Prime Minister Andrew Holness has indicated that Paul Kagame, president of Rwanda, is scheduled to arrive in Jamaica on April 13.

Paul Kagame, president of the East African republic of Rwanda, is gearing up to travel to Jamaica for a state visit that includes a parliamentary address. 

Robert Nesta Morgan, minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) with responsibility for information, confirmed Kagame’s official visit on Twitter Friday night (April 1). 

According to a report from Taarifa Rwanda, citing a trusted Government source, Kagame’s state visit to Jamaica is slated for next week, however, the presidential office remains mum on other details.

Taarifa is reliably told that President Kagame will visit Jamaica on an undisclosed date. A trusted source confirmed Kagame’s state visit to Jamaica next week but his office remained tight-lipped,” Taarifa Rwanda reported.

It will be Kagame’s first visit to Jamaica.

Since the July 21, 2025, introduction of the eMVRC, a total of 23,466 transactions have been processed, with over 2,300 or 10 per cent of motorists opting to renew their motor vehicle registration online.
