This time in Jamaica at its Royal Caribbean resort

Fresh from the announced expansion of its Sandals Royal Barbados property two weeks ago, news has come that the Jamaica-based all-inclusive hotel chain will be carrying out another expansion project.

This time in Jamaica at its Sandals Royal Caribbean resort in the tourism capital of Montego Bay in St James. It has been reported that Sandals Resorts International (SRI), the parent company, is adding 48 new rooms to the resort.

Those rooms, which will be available starting December 15 – the start of Jamaica’s winter tourist season – will include 12 new Crystal Lagoon Hideaway Swim-Up Club Level Junior Suites. In addition, there will be 36 new Crystal Lagoon Hideaway Junior Suites with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tubs.

They will be set within the all-new Chequers House building at the property, located at the resort’s Caribbean Village. Guests will have access to the Club Sandals lounge and concierge services.

Royal Barbados expansion project

Two weeks ago, Our Today reported that SRI is expanding its Royal Barbados property with a new 66-suite South Seas Village wing. The new wing is slated to debut on July 1, when it is hoped that there will be an uptick in visitor arrivals in Barbados, given the rapid COVID-19 vaccination programme now taking place on the island – thus giving impetus towards further opening of the country.

The hotel chain says the expansion will bring the resort’s room total to 338, including Sandals’ Rondoval, Skypool, Crystal Lagoon Swim-Up and Millionaire Butler suites. The expansion plan will see the addition of two new wellness-inspired eateries, The Greenhouse Restaurant and Heart & Sol café, bringing the resort’s restaurant count to nine.

Two new resort pools are now being constructed as Sandals plans to bump up the amenities on offer to its guests. The new South Seas Village rooms will feature high-pitched ceilings and light-wood furnishings finished with quartz inlays.

The suites will have premium, king-sized Sandals Tranquility Blissful beds, pillow menus, marble baths with his and her sinks, private outdoor soaking tubs for two and in-room bars featuring Robert Mondavi wine.
