Scotiabank hosts digital payments expo, partners with MasterCard to strengthen business relations in Montego Bay

Scotiabank has partnered with MasterCard and other stakeholders to engage tourism sector business operators in Montego Bay.

 The engagement sought to, “foster collaboration and knowledge sharing, showcase innovative payment solutions, address pressing challenges and opportunities, as well as strengthen relationships with clients and partners,” said Morris Nelson, Senior Vice President, Corporate and Commercial Banking, Scotiabank, during his welcome address to the attendees.

The event hosted international presenters, with expertise in commercial business transactions, such as Adriana Mejia, Director of Global Transaction Banking for the Caribbean and Central America with Scotiabank, Ricardo Pelaez, Managing Consultant, Advisors and Consulting Services, Strategy and Transformation, Jorge Moreno, Principal, Advisors and Consulting Services from Mastercard and Eldred Garcia, Senior Vice President with First Atlantic Commerce.

Research by Mastercard shows that between 50-80% of global travellers from North America, Asia, Europe and Oceania relied heavily on cards for booking travel services, earning rewards, and purchasing flight tickets and that as the travel industry evolves, there is a visible trend towards cashless transactions.

Over 80 business owners learned how they could implement flexible and secure, digital payment solutions, offered through Scotiabank, to provide better customer experience while interfacing with their respective brands.
