Sean Paul’s 2009 collaboration with Chris Brown, “Brown Skin Girl,” was officially certified Gold in New Zealand on April 9, 2026.

The award, issued by Recorded Music NZ, reflects sales of 15,000 units as of April 9th.

The achievement comes just weeks after another of his hits, (When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me featuring Keyshia Cole, also reached Gold status in New Zealand.

Over the years, Sean Paul has built a strong track record there. No Lie, featuring Dua Lipa, has climbed to triple Platinum, while fan favourites Temperature and Get Busy have both reached double Platinum. His collaboration Baby Boy with Beyoncé also holds Platinum status.

More recent releases are keeping the momentum going. Go Down Deh, featuring Spice and Shaggy, along with I’m Still in Love With You, have both secured Gold certification in the country.

Originally released on Graffiti in 2009, Brown Skin Girl played a role in the album’s strong debut on the Billboard 200, where it entered at number seven with over 100,000 copies sold in its first week.

From early hits like Gimme the Light to chart toppers across genres, Sean Paul has spent more than two decades bridging dancehall with global audiences. His Grammy-winning album Dutty Rock helped cement that legacy, and his long list of collaborations continues to keep his sound in heavy rotation worldwide.

With billions of views across tracks like Cheap Thrills, Rockabye, and No Lie, Sean Paul’s reach remains as strong as ever.
