The Social Pension Benefit for January is now available, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security indicated Wednesday (January 18) on its social media pages.

Senior citizens who have provided the ministry with a bank account number can now access the funds through their bank accounts.

The ministry says seniors can also check their text messages to confirm a remittance agency from which to collect the funds.

Seniors will be required to provide a valid government-issued ID among other requirements of the remittance agency.

The Social Pension Programme is a government-funded programme that was launched in July 2021 to provide senior citizens 75 years and older who are not currently in receipt of a pension, disability benefit or other retirement benefits.

Persons who are currently receiving cash grants from the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH) and poor relief initiatives will also be enrolled in the programme when they reach the age of 75.

Senior citizens who are qualified for the programme can also visit the Ministry of Labour parish offices to be enrolled in the programme.
