Actor Shia LaBeouf appeared before a New Orleans judge on Thursday, February 26, for a status hearing following his Mardi Gras arrest.
Orleans Parish Criminal Court Judge Simone Levine set bail at $100,000 and ordered the 39-year-old to return to drug and alcohol rehabilitation while the case proceeds. He also faces weekly drug testing as part of the court’s conditions.
LaBeouf is charged with two counts of simple battery stemming from an incident on February 17 near the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. Reports say the situation began with an early morning altercation at a Royal Street business in the Faubourg Marigny area, where he was accused of becoming aggressive and assaulting multiple people. Authorities say one victim allegedly suffered a dislocated nose during the encounter.
After posting bond, LaBeouf left the courthouse and quickly moved away from the waiting media. Police say the incident involved repeated confrontations, with bystanders attempting to restrain him until officers arrived. The case is expected to continue in the New Orleans court system as he undergoes treatment and awaits further hearings.
