Headliner of Guyana’s ‘Baderation’ concert, Skeng, had to cut his energetic and electrifying performance short after multiple shots were fired at the island’s National Park.

The 21-year-old, who was arrested last week at the Norman Manley International Airport for disorderly conduct and refusing arrest, was slated to headline the country’s Independence Day celebration concert last Friday (May 27).

Joining Guyana’s Hits and Jams 94.1 Boom FM for a radio interview earlier that day, the 21-year-old commented on his feelings toward the highly anticipated event.

“Heart a love sed [same] way and make sure all a unuh [everyone] outside tonight and come support the Jamaican Ratty Gang…all a unuh mek sure unuh outside tonight see weh me a say?,” he said.

“…Just forward out come expect the maddest live [performance], yuh si weh ma seh,” he continued.

Beginning his almost 13-minute long performance with one of his recent singles, London, the artiste was met with roaring applause from the crowd.

As the National Park lit up with an ocean of cellphone flashes from patrons, the dancehall artiste, in a burst of energy, made circles around the stage, interacting as much as he could with fans.

With supporting vocals from fellow Jamaican dancehall artiste, Navaz, who performed his track, Choppa Fi True, Skeng’s set list consisted of a number of hits including Talibhan, Heaven Passport, Gvman Shift, 23 and Street Cred.

Before his performance came to an abrupt end, the artiste performed arguably his most popular track, the Nicki Minaj-endorsed, Protocol, done with Jamaican artiste Tommy Lee Sparta.

‘Pulling up’ the track a total of four times, the artiste, who at this point in his performance was shirtless and shoeless, was removed from the stage by his entourage after several gunshots were fired from the crowd.

As the shots fired, possibly in a show of support for the hit, patrons began to exit the venue as they rushed to safety.

Skeng, who was later seen in a video shot in Trinidad, appeared to be unharmed.

The DJ, who was the headline act at Trinidad’s ‘Revivial: The Return of Dancehall’ concert on the weekend, was seen at an unnamed location, mouthing the words to an unheard track for what seems to be an accompanying music video.

New music on the way? Inspired by his Trinidad visit, similar to his London hit?

The artiste, shirtless, wearing multicoloured shorts, several gold chains and Trinidadian flag tied around his head and one tucked in his waist, was surrounded by a number of persons ‘vibing’ to the track in true Jamaican dancehall style.
