Jangas Soundbar’s Soca Team Up Relief Lime, a soca music celebration that doubled as a disaster relief project last Thursday (July 11), raised over J$500,000 in cash and goods for those impacted by Hurricane Beryl.
The Soca Team Up Relief Lime, sponsored by Smirnoff, was a collaborative effort between promoters from Afro Soca Jam, Friday Zess, and Fete JA—organised by KL!nK Booking & Entertainment.

Jangas Soundbar’s managing director Jordan Weller said, “It was essential for us to play our part in the best way we know how, and so we are thrilled to have partnered with like-minded event promoters who all decided to bring our community together, lift our patrons’ spirits and raise much-needed funds for those in need at this time.”
Supporters showed up in their numbers, donating essential items like clothing, water, juice, tinned foods, and sanitary supplies. A walk-up cash box allowed for on-the-spot contributions, and Smirnoff’s relief deals, including two-quart offers on Smirnoff Ice and Smirnoff bucket deals, helped drive up donations.
The total value of items, bar revenue, and cash raised is estimated at over J$500,000, with proceeds going directly to those affected by the hurricane.

KL!nK Booking & Entertainment CEO Kino Johnson said, “Soca heals the soul and is no longer a seasonal genre. We soca promoters found this event a perfect opportunity to showcase the impact of Soca and how we are working all year round to provide good entertainment and be of service to the people—and now, in light of Beryl, rally our efforts and give back to the nation.”
Promoter syndicate members have committed to volunteering their time and efforts to personally deliver the donated items and assist with rebuilding efforts. Additionally, cash contributions will be sent to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) to support the island-wide restoration initiative.

“Seeing the community come together in such a powerful way is truly inspiring. Despite the recent hardships, we’ve shown that our collective spirit can weather any storm. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved tonight and grateful to everyone who contributed,” Weller added.
